A Hunting Expedition

Hunting was an important part of pioneer life.
The wilderness was full of bears, wolves, deer and other animals that made their homes in the forest. The animals were usually hunted as a source of food, but there were so many wolves that the government used to offer rewards for each wolf a hunter could shoot. This was so that there were not too many attacks on pioneer families by wolves.
