Free Admission for Mother's at Niagara Falls Armoury
Saturday & Sunday May 8 & 9 10AM ~ 5PM
Bring Mom for a visit at the Niagara Falls History Museum at the Niagara Falls Armoury this Mother's Day weekend. Moms are free with one paid admission to the museum.

BBQ SEASON IS A COMING!

Come out to Chippawa Foodland at 8251 Dock Street and help us raise funds for our museum. “Chef” Jeff cooks hotdogs, hamburgers and sausages to perfection, add some fried onions and a drink, and you’ve got yourself a meal! Jeff won the 2009 Volunteer of the Year Award presented by the City of Niagara Falls. Come out and see why! Enjoy good food, live music and good company!

RURAL ROOTS COUNTRY FAIR

Wheels Make the World Go Round! The Wheel Stops Here! This year our annual Rural Roots Country Fair celebrates Wheels. Look for wheels inside the museum, at our fair, on the bike path, in the trees, on the road here, there and everywhere!

Bicycle Clubs and fashions, Antique Bicycles, Antique motorcycles and cars, Niagara Antique Power Displays, Bicycle designers, Bike racks, Spinning Wheels, Big wheels and little wheels, music, skits, storytelling, lunchtime BBQ and cake!

And while you’re here ~ step inside the museum to view our new exhibit which features the importance of wheels throughout our lives.

Event in a Tent: The Quilting Bee
Sunday July 4th 10AM ~ 4PM
Members of the Willoughby Quilting Society Demonstrate and display the art of quilting. This active group has met every Thursday at the Willoughby Township Hall. Each year they raffle 2 quilts as a fundraiser.

Event in a Tent: Tales from Hillside Manor: The Nina Moore Jamieson Story
Sunday August 15th 2PM
Maja Bannerman performs as Mrs. Nina Moore Jamieson, journalist, novelist and poet. After her marriage to Norman Jamieson, Nina moved to his farm in Westover and later moved to St. George, Ontario. She came to recognition through her magazine articles depicting rural life. This one woman play was adapted by Joann MacLauchlan based entirely on Jamieson’s writings. It premiered at the Cobblestone Play Festival in Paris, Ontario in 2006 with Ms. Bannerman starring in the role. Maja is thrilled to bring Tales from Hillside Manor to Willoughby Historical Museum.

In character and costume, our tour guides come to the task of storytelling honestly. They are both related to passionate history buffs- A Grandfather and a Great Aunt who regaled the two with Drummond Hill Cemetery stories when they were but children. You will be swept up with their enthusiasm and sense of intrigue as you enter the cemAt the end of the tour, step over the threshold of the Battle Ground Hotel Museum and enjoy complimentary refreshments!

Recommended for ages 8 and up.

 

CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS
In partnership with the Willoughby Historical Society, the Willoughby Historical Museum presents the traditions, stories and music celebrated in the immigrant households of Chippawa and Willoughby Township during the winter season.
